A really sad story. The game is beautiful. Keep up the good work.
A downloadable game
"When I find a new place, do you think... that I have to tell my mother where it is?"
Matilda has lived her entire life under her mother's control. Even after moving out of her parents' home, that control did not cease - it only changed. Now, with a Notice to Vacate hanging over her head, Matilda must decide whether to take a terrifying leap into the unknown or to preserve the little safety and stability she has gained, no matter the cost.
Matilda takes the player on a tour of Naarm (Melbourne) and tells one of Australia's most famous ghost stories, the bush ballad "Waltzing Matilda" with lyrics by Banjo Patterson.
Matilda contains themes of domestic violence (controlling behaviour, emotional abuse, gaslighting etc.), drowning, mental illnesses and suicide. A former/dead name is used during the game, though it has the same gender-coding as the new name. If you live in Australia, you can call Lifeline at 13 11 14 or 1800RESPECT at 1800 737 732. An international list of support lines can be found here: http://ibpf.org/resource/list-international-suicide-hotlines
At this point, I consider Matilda to be a complete game. Minor improvements or bug fixes may be uploaded at later stages. If you have any feedback or suggestions, I would love to hear from you. Please comment below or find me on Twitter @LuciellaES.
